A small shop, on purpose.
Long Island AI is a consultancy for businesses that want AI to do something specific and useful, and would rather not sit through a platform demo to find out what that is.
LOCAL, IN BOTH SENSES
Down the road, and on your own hardware.
We are on Long Island, so we can sit in your conference room on a Tuesday and watch how the work is really done — which is the only reliable way to find out. And where it matters, we run the models locally too: open-weight, on your own machine, nothing leaving your network and no per-token meter running while you grow.
- Here
- Nassau and Suffolk. In person when it helps — which is more often than remote firms will admit.
- Private
- Open-weight models on hardware you own. Client data stays inside the building.
- Fixed
- Local inference costs the same whether you run it ten times a day or ten thousand.
- Yours
- You own the systems we build. No proprietary platform, no hostage data, no exit fee.
What we think is true
- 01
Most AI projects fail on the boring part
Not the model. The permissions, the data quality, the person who has to actually use it on a Tuesday, the integration with the 2009 system that runs billing. We spend most of our time there, because that is where projects die.
- 02
Small businesses get the best returns
A 200-person company automating intake saves a line item. A 12-person company automating intake gets a third of a person back. The maths is better at your size, and almost nobody is building for you.
- 03
Your data should stay yours
There is now an open-weight model good enough for most business tasks that runs on hardware you can buy once. For anyone handling medical, legal or financial records, that is not a nice-to-have — it is the only version that clears compliance.
- 04
We will tell you not to do it
Plenty of processes are not worth automating, and some problems are org-chart problems wearing a technology costume. Saying so costs us a project and saves you a year.
